Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is a gram-positive bacterium, found ubiquitously as a commensal on the surface of the skin, the bowel, the conjunctival surface, the oral mucosa, and even the external ear canal. Perhaps the most well-known disease association with P. acnes is its role in the development of acne.
Our results demonstrate that aPDT mediated by the three above-mentioned PS was effective in eliminating both gram-positive bacteria, although P. acnes showed remarkably higher susceptibility to aPDT when compared to E. faecalis. Propionibacterium acnes strains are recovered from infections linked to surgical procedures, foreign bodies and septicaemia. This study investigated the antibiotic susceptibility patterns of P. acnes isolates from different systemic infections and determined the genomic diversity among resistant P. acnes Antibiotic susceptibility patterns of P. acnes isolates in relation to severity of acne, age of the patients, disease duration, and previous antibiotic therapy Antibiotic susceptibility patterns of P.acnes isolates revealed insignificant differences between sensitivities to antibiotics in all grades of acne (table 2). As regards Propionibacterium acnes has been identified as a significant agent of nosocomial infections, including endophthalmitis. Data concerning susceptibility of P. acnes to newer beta-lactam antibiotics and fluoroquinolones are limited.
Recent reports suggest that quinolones have activity against these organisms sufficient to warrant further study. We undertook a study to select appropriate Se hela listan på academic.oup.com Tests of hemolysin on P. acnes susceptibility to clindamycin. We used the potent hemolysin produced by Aeromonas hydrophila, called aerolysin, to induce hemolysis and determine if hemolysis had any effect on antibiotic susceptibility.5 A. hydrophila is a wild-type isolate from a leech collected from Ellicott Creek, Williamsville, NY, in 2002. Cutibacterium acnes is a commensal skin bacterium, regularly implicated in prosthetic joint infection, particularly of the shoulder. Diagnosis has been improved by progress in bacteriological techniques: longer culture time, liquid medium culture, MALDI-TOF mass spectrography, and universal 16S rRNA PCR, associated by some authors to sonication of ablated implants. Perhaps the most well-known disease association with P. acnes is its role in the development of acne. 31 Oct 2016 Introduction: Propionibacterium acnes has been implicated in the development of acne vulgaris.
P. acnes digests were centrifuged and filtered through a 0.45-p.m membrane before chromatography. P. acnes strains were radiolabeled by growth in [14C]glucose-containing media. Thedistribution of14C in P. acnes 6919 was determined by extraction of cells with chloroform-methanol for lipids, followed by 5% tri-chloracetic acid at 56°C for 18 h
acnes, formerly Propionibacterium acnes) isolates as well as the relationship among demographic factors, C. acnes biotypes and phylotypes. Methods Cutibacterium acnes was collected from the skin lesions of acne patients who visited 2008-02-06 · Live P. acnes induced approximately 15∼20% cell death in PBS (vehicle)- or GFP-treated sebocytes, whereas sialidase-treated sebocyte cell death was significantly higher, at 33.5±1.8 % , suggesting that sialidase treatment increases the susceptibility of sebocytes to P. acnes. Se hela listan på hindawi.com Although P. acnes resistance has been demonstrated throughout the world, no previous data regarding the antimicrobial susceptibility of P. acnes in Colombia are available. Objectives The aim of this study was to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility of P. acnes to common antibiotics used in the treatment of acne in a Colombian population.
acnes is of great value in everyday clinical practice. Using Etest, the present study investigated the susceptibility of 55 clinical isolates of P. acnes, obtained from
The aim of this study was to determine antibiotic susceptibility of Propionibacterium acnes isolates from prostate. Prostate-derived P. acnes isolates (n = 24, Umeå & Örebro, Sweden, 2007-2010) Despite recent research indicating the susceptibility of P. acnes to older beta-lactams, fluoroquinolones, and macrolides, in vivo success with antibiotics that are currently available for intravitreal instillation has been inconsistent, and additional antibiotic alternatives are needed (6, 10). 2019-12-13 · Pottinger P, Butler-Wu S, Neradilek MB, et al. Prognostic factors for bacterial cultures positive for Propionibacterium acnes and other organisms in a large series of revision shoulder arthroplasties performed for stiffness, pain, or loosening. 2018-02-01 · Cutibacterium acnes is a commensal skin bacterium, regularly implicated in prosthetic joint infection, particularly of the shoulder. We noted an association between hemolytic phenotype on 1 Jun 2020 Resistance to azithromycin and clindamycin was associated with acne severity (p =0.01 and p=0.03). Resistance to clindamycin was also P. acnes was isolated, identified and antibiotic susceptibility of each isolate was determined by disk diffusion method.
